Beautiful Silks workshops present a 3 hour workshop, Thursday evening June 6th, starts at 5.30pm, 30 minute break for a meal at 7pm, then conclude at 9pm

Ruth Marshall Intarsia Knitting - intermediate and advanced knitters are taught the unconventional intarsia techniques that Marshall developed to create her textile pelts from zoo animals and specimens in museums.
Australian Ruth Marshall has a BFA/MFA in fine arts as a sculptor.  After traveling to New York City for her studies, she worked at the Bronx Zoo, home of the Wildlife Conservation Society, in the exhibits department for fourteen years.  Marshall now teaches drawing at the School of Visual Arts and devotes the majority of studio time to her art.

Bev Mann is a feltmaker and artist who is very interested in teaching and sharing her skills. Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch is in love with the ancient medium beeswax and practices the art of encaustic painting. Learn this ancient medium, during a four day workshop. Marion Hera Gorr of Beautiful Silks has atrtended a workshop with Patricia in 2012 and she can relate to you that no one wanted to go home at all. Prudence Mapstone Advanced freeform Knitting and Crochet

Participants in these workshops will learn the principles of combining knitting and crochet together in a freeform, multi-directional manner. Many stitches, motifs and unusual techniques that work well for this style of fabric design will be studied and tried. By practicing new ways of crocheting onto knitting and knitting directly into crochet, students will discover the best methods for combining stitches and joining pieces together.

Marion Hera-Gorr - Dyeing for colour - Ombre and Pyramids

Marion is offering a one day 2 part workshop - part one, Ombre dyeing. In the afternoon you'll learn pyramid dyeing, in one session, creating colour in many textures, making bases for your textile works. August 31st 2013 Code MHG06

Marion Gorr and Saskia Baur Scmid of Beautiful Silks will conduct a series of Felting workshops, 14 15 16 September 2013 (Saturday, Sunday, Monday).This class will explore making a felted fabric with natural wool and silk. You will learn to felt these fibers into a base of pre-felt. We will use yarn, thread, beads and lots of other things to add texture and colour. We'll construct a 3D garment each and dye it.
