Beautiful Silks Workshops presents from Europe one 3 day workshop: Isobel Hall : Mixed Media Surfaces - Beyond the Basics January 29 30 31st (Saturday Sunday Monday) Code IH01
On this action packed workshop you will be encouraged to experiment with the techniques explained in Isobel's new book and also those which will feature in her next book. It is envisaged that you will have lots of uniquely designed fabrics and papers to choose from and each student will work towards their own goal. Some may prefer to go on to concentrate on making jewelry, a bag, book or vessel whereas others may prefer to continue working with the various new techniques which will be demonstrated and explained. As this workshop concentrates on mixed media techniques no expertise in drawing is required. A Variety pack of mixed papers fabrics and fibre is available for $35.00. Products are also available in the shop, should you run out. Glues etc will b provided in the materials fee of $15.00. Tutor Profile: Isobel Hall is an internationally renowned author and textile artist. She lives and works between the UK and Spain and when she is not experimenting and writing she travels world wide to teach and exhibit. She has become well known for her work with sealants, waxes, silk papers, lamination and moulding pastes. Sketch book work is an important part of any artists body of work but Isobel is always eager to use hers to work towards a goal and stresses that sketch book work should be used as a tool and not an end product. Articles which are subsequently made are all road tested to ensure that they are robust and fit for purpose. Her bags, books ,jewellery and vessels are all intended to be used and are not mere wall art, although they sometimes end up being so. Workshop fee is $330.00 for the 3 days - Materials fee $15.00 for glues etc and a variety pack is also available for $35.00 containing mixed papers fabrics fibres and beads. If you have a large stash, please bring along varieties of these things and anything that comes to mind as potentially useful - cardboards, ribbons beads etc. limit 12 people
